Cookies and storage
Last updated: 31 October 2026
The short version
- Yuni sets one cookie:
yuni_beta, which keeps this device signed in to Yuni (with a private-beta invite code, or as a paid Founder). You need it to open the app, so it does not need your consent. - No ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies. We never sell data.
- Your patterns, projects, counters and settings are kept in your browser's own storage on your device, so Yuni works offline. We can't see them.
- Other services set their own cookies only when you use them: Stripe when you pay, and YouTube or Vimeo when you play a video in the Watch dock.
The cookie we set
- Name:
yuni_beta - What it does: after you enter your invite code, or open Yuni on the device you bought your Founder spot with, it keeps this device signed in to Yuni. It holds a random key; only a fingerprint of that key is kept on our side.
- Kind: strictly necessary. It is
HttpOnly(page scripts can't read it),SecureandSameSite=Lax. - How long: 180 days, renewed while you use Yuni. Signing out deletes it.
What Yuni keeps on your device (not cookies)
- The app uses your browser's storage (local storage and IndexedDB) for your projects, patterns, counters, notes, yarn, photos you add and your settings, such as dark mode, the Human or Human+ look and the text size.
- The Founders page keeps the key of a Founder spot you claim on this device, so it can show your Founder spot again. The forms keep an unsent answer on this device until you send it.
- This stays on your device. It only leaves it when you choose to share, send a form or export a file.
Services that may set their own cookies
- Cloudflare hosts Yuni and runs Turnstile, the robot check on the sign-up, contact and Founders forms. Turnstile may use your browser's storage to tell people from bots.
- Stripe runs the checkout page when you pay. That page belongs to Stripe, which uses cookies there to process the payment and to prevent fraud.
- YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) and Vimeo load only when you play a video in the Watch dock. They may then set cookies under their own policies.
Why there is no cookie banner
We only use what is strictly necessary for the service you ask for: the beta sign-in, and your own work kept on your device. EU and Italian rules (ePrivacy Directive article 5(3) and the Garante's cookie guidelines of 10 June 2021) don't ask for consent for these. If we ever add anything else, such as analytics, we will ask you first.
How to delete them
- Sign out on this device (Yuni, then Add a device, then Sign out this device): the cookie is deleted.
- In the app: Settings, then Your data, then Delete everything on this device.
- Or clear the site data for yuniyarn.com in your browser's settings.
