Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to the website yuniyarn.com and the Yuni app at yuniyarn.com/app ("the service"), provided by Nivation Solutions ("Yuni", "we", "us"). By using the service you agree to them.
How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy notice, and refunds in the Refund policy. Questions? Write to [email protected].
2. The service
- Yuni is a crochet companion that we keep improving. Features can change, and new ones may be marked as early or experimental. We may also need to pause the service for maintenance.
- Please keep a backup of anything important. Settings has a backup download.
- When a paid plan is offered, its price and what it includes are shown clearly before you pay.
- You must be at least 14 to use Yuni, and at least 18 to make a purchase or pay a deposit.
3. Access codes and devices
- Yuni has no user accounts. You get in with a personal access code. It works once and is linked to you; after that each of your devices gets its own sign-in.
- Keep your code to yourself. Don't share, sell or publish it. You can add or sign out devices at Add a device.
- Your patterns, photos, notes and progress are stored on your device, not with us. If you clear your browser data or lose the device, we can't restore them.
- We may revoke a code or a device sign-in if it is shared, misused, or used to break these terms. We will tell you why when we can.
4. The founding deposit
- Founding testers can choose to pay an optional founding deposit of €8.99 to reserve a Founders spot. It is never required to use Yuni.
- The €8.99 is the Founders price. It is credited to your first Founders month when the Founders plan starts.
- You are only charged when you complete a secure Stripe checkout yourself.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- You can get the deposit back at any time before it is credited, for any reason. How, and how fast, is in the Refund policy. If the Founders plan does not start, we refund every deposit.
- Prices are shown in euros and include any VAT that applies.
5. Purchases and paid plans
- Before you pay, we show the price (including any VAT), what you get and, for paid plans, how renewal and cancelling work.
- Digital content (for example a pattern PDF export): at checkout we ask you to tick a box agreeing that access starts straight away and confirming that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the download or export begins (article 59(1)(o) of the Italian Consumer Code). We then confirm this by email. Until you download or export, and if we haven't sent you that confirmation, your right of withdrawal stays in place.
- Paid plans (subscriptions): at checkout we ask you to agree that the plan starts straight away. If you then withdraw within 14 days, you pay only for the days you used (article 57(3) of the Italian Consumer Code). This includes a Founder spot, which is the first month of the Founders plan: the box sits on Yuni's own page, before Stripe's checkout, and is never ticked for you. You can cancel at any time; the plan then ends at the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds follow the Refund policy.
6. Using Yuni fairly
Please don't:
- break the law, or use Yuni to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
- upload, share or publish (for example in an online Yuni form) content you don't have the right to share, such as someone else's paid pattern, or content that is illegal, hateful or sexual involving minors;
- try to get around access controls, guess codes, break the security, overload the service, or scrape it with bots;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- pretend to be Yuni, HookedOnAlyssa or us.
7. Abuse, refusals and suspension
- If you abuse the service or break these terms, we may refuse refunds that the law does not require, remove content, suspend your access (your code and device sign-ins) or close it. Abuse includes, for example, repeatedly buying, downloading and asking for a refund, also through several codes, emails or cards; a chargeback for something you received and used; sharing or selling your access code; and the uses listed in section 6.
- We tell you the reason by email or in the app. Unless the breach is serious or the law says otherwise, we give you notice and a chance to reply first.
- This never takes away the rights the law gives you, such as the legal guarantee for faulty digital content or your right of withdrawal where it applies.
- If we close your access without a breach on your part, we refund any prepaid period you haven't used.
8. AI-generated patterns
Yuni uses AI to write patterns and replies, and they can be wrong. Always double-check stitch counts before you start, and test a swatch.
- Generated patterns are labelled "Generated with Yuni AI". Yuni checks the stitch maths row by row, but that check is not a guarantee that a pattern has no errors, fits, or looks like you expect.
- We are not responsible for yarn, time or materials spent on a pattern that turns out wrong, except where the law says we are (see sections 11 and 12).
- Yuni is not a substitute for professional advice, and nothing it says is safety advice (for example for toys for babies: follow the safety rules for small parts).
9. Your patterns: ownership and commercial use
- Your patterns are yours. Patterns you create with Yuni, including their PDF exports, belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.
- Sell them. You may sell, publish, share and license your pattern PDFs, and sell the items you make from them, including commercially. There are no royalties or fees to us, and no attribution is required. A "Made with Yuni" mention is welcome but optional.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for what you create and publish. Make sure your patterns, names, photos and descriptions don't copy someone else's pattern, design, trademark or character.
- Only what we need to run Yuni. You let us store, process and show your content only as needed to provide the service to you (and to the people you choose to share it with). We claim no other rights, and we do not use your content to train AI unless you explicitly agree.
- Not guaranteed to be unique. Yuni is AI-assisted. Other people may create similar or even identical patterns with Yuni or other tools, so we can't guarantee that a pattern is unique or give you exclusive rights over it. Basic stitches, techniques and common shapes belong to everyone.
10. Yuni's own content and other people's patterns
- The Yuni app, its code, templates, page layouts and interface, the Yuni name and logo, the Yuni character and artwork belong to us or our licensors. Please don't resell or redistribute Yuni itself or these parts of it (for example as a blank template pack, or the Yuni character on your products) without our written permission. Selling your own pattern in a PDF exported from Yuni is, of course, fine.
- Patterns by HookedOnAlyssa belong to Alyssa, and patterns by other creators belong to them. Section 9 covers only the patterns you create, not other people's patterns you see or use in Yuni.
- If you think something on Yuni infringes your rights, write to [email protected] and we will look at it quickly.
11. Liability
- We work hard to keep Yuni available and correct, but we can't promise it is always available or without errors. Features that do not need a paid plan are provided "as is" and "as available".
- We are not liable for indirect losses, or for loss of data stored on your device, except where the loss is caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for wilful misconduct or gross negligence (article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code), for death or personal injury, or your rights as a consumer.
12. Your consumer rights
- If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep all rights that the Italian Consumer Code (Codice del Consumo) and the consumer law of your country give you. These terms never take them away.
- Digital content and services must match what we described (legal guarantee of conformity, articles 135-octies and following of the Italian Consumer Code). If they don't, we'll fix it first, at no cost to you; if we can't within a reasonable time, or the fault is serious, you get a refund or a price reduction.
- You have a 14-day right of withdrawal for paid purchases. To withdraw online, use Withdraw from contract here (no account needed). How it works, including for digital content, is in the Refund policy.
13. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of that country.
- If you are a consumer, disputes go to the court of the place where you live. Please write to us first; most problems are solved by a reply.
- You can also use an out-of-court consumer dispute resolution body (ADR) recognised in Italy or in your country.
14. Changes and ending
- We may update these terms, for example when we add features or plans. For important changes we tell you in the app or by email before they apply. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
- You can stop using Yuni at any time: sign out your devices and delete the data on them (Settings, then "Delete everything on this device").
- We may change or discontinue the service. We will tell you in advance where we can, and refund any unused deposit or prepaid period.
